Death of a Pioneer

Ole Olson, an unmarried man and a brother of Mrs. Ole Pederson, of Holmes City, died Saturday, December 14, at the ripe old age of eighty-three years. Ole Olson came to Douglas county from Wisconsin in the spring of 1866, and settled on a homestead in section 12, in Solem, now the farm of Anun Anundson.  He worked on his claim part of the time, and often for the farmers in the neighborhood.  He was well known to the earliest settlers of Holmes City, Solem, Moe and Urness.  After some years he disposed of his claim in Solem and bought eighty acres in Holmes City, near his sister, who has had the care of him these later years. He was a man of strong constitution, a hard worker and has endured many hardships.

The funeral was held on Wednesday and the burial was in the Trysil cemetery, Rev. B.A. Benson officiating.
