Newspaper obituary:
Henry Femrite Of Ben Wade Laid To Rest
Henry Louis Femrite of Ben Wade township, Pope county, Minnesota,
passed away at the Minnewaska Hospital, Starbuck, Saturday, Jan 14, 1950 at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 17 days.
Deceased was born April 28, 1879 in Holmes City township, Douglas
county, Minn, of the parents, Sivert Femrite and Guro Jorgenson Femrite.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a life-long
and an active member of Trysil Lutheran Church. He served as trustee
for many years. Later, and at the time of his passing he was a member
of the board of deacons. In community affairs he also took part, and
for a long time served on the school board of his district.
On June 26, 1907 he was united in marriage to Olive Sogaarden. They
made their home in Ben Wade township, Pope county, where he was a
prominent and successful farmer. To them were born four sons: Stanley
and Harvey of Lowry; Murville of Farwell and Orlando of Fargo, ND, all
of who survive. He is also survived by three sisters, namely, Tillie
Myhr of Alexandria, Annie Mauseth and Jennie Femrite of Farwell and
several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His parents, two brothers,
Sander of Farwell, Grant of St Paul and sister, Bertha Johnson of St
Paul, preceded him in death.
Being confined to bed since May, he bore it bravely, placing it all in
the care of his Lord and Savior. He reminded his dear ones to keep
close to God so that none of them would be missing in the beautiful home
above. As a devoted husband and father, he leaves a rich heritage of
precious memories with his loved ones.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, Jan 18 at Trysil
Church, Pastor M. Ulring officiating. Mrs Floyd Anderson sang,
“Beautiful Garden of Prayer” and “Beyond the Sunset”. Priscilla Myhr
sang “Behold a Host Arrayed in White” in Norwegian.
Beautiful floral tributes and a generous sum of money, given in
Henry’s memory to missions and other benevolences by his relatives and
many friends, bespoke the high esteem in which he was held. Theodore
Swenson and the following nephews Arthur Mauseth, Reuben and Harold
Myhr, Oliver and Marcus Reece served as pallbearers. Interment was made
in the Trysil cemetery.
May the Lord bless Henry Femrite’s memory!
So, tho darkness surrounds me below and above
I’ll just trust my Savior and lean on his love,
For I’ve learned He is all that I need here below,
Until upwards I soar and then all things I’ll know.
