Mrs. Anton Hanson passed peacefully away at her home on South Elm street March 8th, at 1:30 o’clock. she has been ailing for many years. She had a stroke Thursday, March 4 and Monday went to be with her saviour.
She was 79 years, and 6 months old. Oline Pederson was born in Norway, Sept 8, 1857. At the age of 8 years she came with her parents, Anne and Ole Pederson to Douglas county, in the year 1866. With the exception of 12 years spent in Washington after her marriage, the rest of her life was spent in Douglas county.
She was united in marriage to Anton Hanson Dec. 28th, 1894 at Holmes City, who survives her, also one foster daughter, Selma Hanson.
Mrs. Hanson was a good Christian woman, a wonderful mother and wife. She was well liked by all who knew her.
A short service was held here at the Engstrom Funeral Home; Rev. C.E. Hansen officiating. Mrs. Gustave johnson sang “Han skall oppna parleporten” and Rev. Hansen sang “O tank naar engag samles skal”. Regular services were held in Trysil church; Rev. Hansen and Rev. A.J. Sheldahl of Trysil spoke in the Norwegian and English languages. Her favorite song was sung by the congregation, “Jeg ved mig en soren i Jesu navn”. Miss Priscilla Myhr sang, “Den store Hvide flok vi se”. Rev. Hansen sang “I Himmelen, I Himmelen” . Myrtle Shogren of Alexandria sang “Safe in the Arms of Jesus”.
She leaves to mourn her loss the following sisters and brothers; Andrew and Ed Pederson of Holmes City, Mrs. Agnes Imes of Thermoplis, Wyoming, Mrs. Thilda Grotte and Mrs. Gusta McCann of Minneapolis. Her parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. One brother and one sister died in infancy. Peter passed away twenty-two years ago and Martha, Mrs. John Davis, passed away in 1925.
Mrs. Hanson was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Moe by Rev. Carlsen. She has been a resident of Douglas county for 59 years and a member of Trysil church for many years. It was Mrs. Hanson’s wish to give $25.00 to the Trysil church in her memory.
The pallbearers were Pete Omland, Adolph Haatvedt, Henry Femrite, Halvor Soberg, Henry Myhr and Joseph Nygaard.
