Gerhard Isackson
Gerhard J. Isackson died on January 10, 1993 at St. Luke’s hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. He was 84 years of age. Gerhard was born on March 11, 1908, the son of Isack and Dordi (Mauseth) Isackson in Holmes City Township of Douglas County. Gerhard was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Trysil Lutheran Church. He attended the Morris School of Agriculture and then farmed his home farm. During these years, he never ceased clearing stumps and timber from the land. Gerhard maintained a large herd of beef cattle which he sold with the farm in 1954. He retired to Minot, North Dakota spending most of the summers working on a farm in Montana. In 1980 Gerhard moved to Valley City where he made his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lannie; sisters, Marie Christianson and Ragna Soberg; and a nephew, Doran Isackson. Surviving him are a nephew Art and wife Marcy Isackson of Lowry; nieces, Rosemary, wife of the late Doran Isackson of Storden; Eleanor and husband, Reverend Erland Carlson of Mendota Heights; Marion and husband Ronald Wrolson of Alexandria; 11 grandnieces and grand-nephews and four great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 12, 1993 at First Lutheran church of Alexandria with Reverend Keith Lentz officiating. Music was provided by Reverend Lentz, soloist and Marlene Lentz, organist. Interment was at the Trysil Cemetery, Holmes City township.
