GEORGE JORGENSON
Funeral services for Mr George Jorgenson were conducted Tuesday, June
23rd by Rev A J Sheldahl at 1:00 from Hoplin’s funeral home and 2:00
from Trysil Church. Two duets were sung at the service by Martin and
Priscilla Myhr. Interment was made at Trysil cemetery.
George Jorgenson was born Oct 17, 1866 of the parents Halvor and Tone
Gjilstad (Jelstad) in Ben Wade township, Pope county. Mr Jorgenson was
the first white child to be born in Ben Wade.
He was in the year 1890 united in marriage to Marit Torve. To them
were born five children, all of whom survive him. Henry at home, Edwin
at Alexandria, Mary at home, Iver of Alexandria and Jonart at home.
As a child Mr Jorgenson was baptized in the Lutheran church and
confirmed by Rev Oftedahl. He passed away Friday evening, June 19th at
the age of 75 years. He is survived by his widow and children and two
sisters, Mrs Guro Femrite and Mrs Anderson.
Mr Jorgenson was born and lived his whole life on the same farm in Ben
Wade. He leaves many friends and acquaintances who will remember him in
love and honor.
