Gertrude O Mauset Passed Away
Sunday morning, June 7, without any apparent warning or sign of sickness, Mrs Gertrude O Mauset of Holmes City township, passed to her eternal rest. She was at the time living with her daughter, Mrs Isak Isakson and in the evening before retiring appeared to be in her customary health. In the morning the folks arose rather early, did their customary morning chores and prepared breakfast before calling at her room. She appeared to be sleeping, no sign of any suffering could be noticed. She seems merely to have slumbered and peacefully passed to her eternal rest. She was a woman of implicit and almost childlike faith. She had perfect confidence in the doctrine of salvation and thoroly believed in Christ’s promise and ability to save, and lived a life in conformity to this belief.
She was born in Holten, Surndalen, Norway, Nov 30th, 1831 and was at her death 75 years, 8 months, and 7 days old. She married John O Mauset, who died about fifteen years ago. Ten children were born to them of whom six are now living. Eleven years ago she emigrated to the United States and has since been living alternately, to suit her fancy, with her children. They are Mrs Henry Halgrimson of Cavite, SD, Mrs Eli Resild of Norway, Mrs A Knutson, Brandon, Mrs Isak Isakson of Holmes City, Ole Mauset of Holmes City and Miss Brit Mauset of ND.
The funeral took place from the Tryssild Norwegian Lutheran Church. Rev B A Benson of Alexandria officiating. Rev Riis of Seattle was also present.
