Harold T. Myhr, age 89, of Alexandria, formerly of Holmes City, Minnesota died Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at Bethany Home in Alexandria. Harold was born on April 6, 1912 in Holmes City to Henry and Tillie (Femrite) Myhr. Harold attended grade school at a country school in District #27. After school he farmed the home place with his parents until he married Louella Foslien on September 25, 1937 at West Moe Lutheran parsonage. Together they rented various farms for a while until they were able to purchase Harold’s family farm in 1943. He lived and farmed the land for 57 years until he and his wife moved to Alexandria.
Harold was a member of Trysil Lutheran Church. He was baptized and confirmed and also on the council at the church. When Trysil Lutheran Church was closed, Harold and Louella joined First Lutheran Church in Alexandria where they were members for over 30 years. Harold was on the Holmes City Town Board for a number of years.
Harold liked trapping muskrats and mink. He also enjoyed hunting pheasants and ducks.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday October 27, 2001 at First Lutheran Church with the Reverend Michele Olson officiating. Music was provided by Diane Alveshere, organist, and Reverend Michele Olson, soloist.
Interment was in Trysil Bethesda Cemetery in Holmes City Township, Minnesota. Casket bearers were Dennis Johnson, Kent Myhr, Vernal Nelson, Charles Foslien, Frank Foslien III, and Myron Foslien. Honorary bearers were Desirlee Laman, Todd Myhr, Scott Myhr, Craig Gustafson and Brian Gustafson
He is survived by his wife: Louella Myhr of Alexandria; son and daughter-in-law: Luther and Jan Myhr of Farwell; daughter and son-in-law: Deanne and Omar Gustafson of Alexandria; grandchildren: Desirlee Laman and fiancé John Webb and her children, Ashlee and Baylee Laman all of Alamo, TN; Todd and Julie Myhr and their children, Stephanie, Sara and Ryan all of Carlos; Scott and Susan Myhr and their children, Dalton, Owen and Brady, all of Alexandria; Craig and Tina Gustafson and their child, Taylor, all of Alamo, TN; and Brian Gustafson of Alexandria; brother: Lawrence Myhr of Bloomington; nieces, nephews and cousins
He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandsons, Daniel Laman and Jesse Laman; brothers, Ruben Myhr and Clifton Myhr; and sisters: Sarah Soberg, Hilda Sholy, Martha Hjelm and Marie Johnson.
