MRS PETER OMLAND
Mrs Peter Omland was born March 8, 1869, of the parents, Simon and Ingeborg Christenson, at Holmes City township, Douglas county. She passed away July 25, 1944, at 8 o’clock am, being at the time of her death 75 years, 6 months and 17 days.
Mr and Mrs Omland were married at Alexandria Sept 23, 1901. They made their home on the farm about 2 ½ miles west of Holmes City until October 1939 when they moved to their home in Holmes City. Here they lived together until the passing of Mrs Omland.
Mrs Omland was a faithful, lifelong member of Trysil congregation. She was both baptized and confirmed in the congregation. She was a faithful member of the Ladies Aid, serving in whatever capacity desired of her.
Surviving Mrs Omland are her husband, Peter Omland; one son, Oliver, residing on a farm west of Holmes City; one daughter, Myrtle, (Mrs Joseph Hoium), living on the home farm; one brother, Christ Simonson, who has made his home with Omlands, and seven grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 28, at 1 o’clock from the Anderson Funeral Home, and 2 pm from the Trysil Lutheran church in Holmes City with Rev A J Sheldahl officiating. Martin and Priscilla Myhr sang “Nearer Still Nearer” at the Anderson Funeral Home. They were accompanied by Mrs A J Sheldahl at the piano. At the church, Mrs A J Sheldahl sang “I Know of a Sleep in Jesus Name”; Priscilla Myhr sang “Den Store Hvida Flock” (Behold a Host Arrayed in White) and Martin and Priscilla Myhr sang “Skol Vi Modis” (Shall We Meet). Priscilla Myhr and Mrs A J Sheldahl also furnished instrumental music. Pallbearers were Adolph Haatvedt, Bennie Haatvedt, Jacob Olson, Edward Peterson, Henry Femrite, Carl Nelson. Interment was made in Trysil cemetery.
