Death of Mrs Ole Pederson
Mrs Ole Pederson of Holmes city died Friday July 29, after an illness of four days. Although she has been in poor health for some years the end came unexpectedly to her friends and relatives.
Mrs Pederson, who’s maiden name was Anne Arnesen, was born near Lillehammer, Norway, June 20, 1834, and was, at her death, 76 years, 1 month and 9 days old.
On Jan 2, 1857, she was united in marriage to Ole Pederson who survives her. In the spring of 1866 she, with her husband and 4 children, set out to seek their fortune in the new world. The voyage across the ocean, which was made in a sail boat, took 8 weeks. After a few weeks’ stop at LaCrosse, Wis, the family moved on westward to Holmes City and took up a homestead in Sec 12 where they have resided for over 40 years.
Mrs Pederson has been a member of the Trysil congregation since the first days of its organization. She leaves to mourn her loss as a loving wife and kind hearted mother, her husband, three sons, and five daughters. They are: Mrs Anton Hanson of Holmes City, Mrs Martha Davis of Spruce Hill, Mrs Geo W Imes of Thermopolis, Wyoming, Mrs W E McCan and Mrs E.A. Grotte of Minneapolis. The three sons, Peter, Andrew and Edward are at home on the family homestead.
Funeral services were held Tuesday Aug 2, from the family residence at 10 am and from Trysil church at 2 pm. The remains were laid at rest in the cemetery near the church. Rev B A Benson officiating. The pall bearers were: P T Omland, Isack Isackson, P O Myhr, Henry Myhr, C A Hotvedt and Andrew Knudson.
