Last Rites Held For Mrs Reece At Trysil Church
Funeral services for Mrs Alberta S Reece were held Friday, April 26,
at 1 pm from the Anderson Funeral Home and at 2 pm from the Trysil
Lutheran church of Farwell. Rev Olive Ruud and Rev H N Schey
officiated. Mrs Floyd Anderson sang “We Shall Sleep But Not Forever,”
accompanied by Miss Priscilla Myhr, and Mrs Stanley Femrite sang “Beyond
the Sunset,” accompanied by Mrs Joseph Hoium.
Pallbearers were David Anderson, Arthur Solhiem, Stanley Femrite,
Murville Femrite, Harold Erickson and Eddy Thompson.
Interment was made in the Bethesda cemetery.
Mrs Alberta Sogaarden Reece was born in Holmes City township, Douglas
county, on Oct 20, 1882, the daughter of Ole and Oline Grambo Sogaarden.
She received her schooling and grew to womanhood in this community and
on June 26, 1907, she was united in marriage to Rev Andrew A Reece. Rev
and Mrs Reece made their home in Clarkston, Wash; Billings and Butte,
Mont; Madelia and Alberta, Minn; and Hemet, Calif, where Rev Reece
served congregations.
After Rev Reece’s retirement, they purchased a farm in Holmes City
township. Rev Reece passed away on March 28, 1943, and since Mrs Reece
has made her residence with her son, Oliver, on the home farm.
Mrs Reece passed away early Monday morning, April 22nd, at the Douglas
County Hospital in Alexandria at the age of 74 years, 6 months, and 2
days.
Surviving are two sons, Marcus Reece of Minneapolis and Oliver Reece
of Holmes City township; one grandson, Paul Marcus; and two sisters Mrs
Olive Femrite of Minneapolis and (Marie) Mrs Ole Finstad of Brainerd.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and one daughter;
Leif and Agnes; four brothers and four sisters; Albert, Olaf, Martin and
Peter Sogaarden; Lillie, Mrs Finstad; Julia, Mrs Jacobson; Helen, Mrs
Solheim; and Christine, Mrs Helseth.
