HALVOR O SOBERG
Halvor Soberg passed away at St Luke’s hospital December 31, 1939 at
9 am being at the time of his death 82 years and 29 days. He was born
in Trysil, Norway, December 2, 1857.
He attended school and was baptized and confirmed in Norway. He came
with his parents to America 59 years ago and bought the farm, which has
since been his home. He was a faithful member of the Trysil church.
Surviving Mr Soberg are two sisters: Mrs Caroline Mattson of Fargo,
ND; Mrs Mina Johnson of Argusville, ND; two brothers: Ole of Lakota, ND,
and Peter O of Holmes City, as well as Mrs German Hanson of Holmes City
and Mrs Ole Steen also of Holmes City have preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 4 at 1:00 o’clock from
the Anderson Funeral chapel and 2:00 from the Trysil church; Rev A J
Sheldahl officiating. Martin and Priscilla Myhr sang “Under His Wings”
at the funeral home, “Come Ye Disconsolate” and “Kleppe, Der Som Brast
for Mig” at the church accompanied by Mrs A J Sheldahl.
Interment took place in Trysil cemetery. Pall bearers were Reuben,
Harold and Martin Myhr, Lannie and Gerhardt Isackson and Oscar Nygaard.
