EINER O STEEN
Einer O Steen was born in Osterdalen, Norway, April 1, 1869 and passed away June 11, 1941, after an 8 months illness and was at the time of his death 72 years, 2 months and 10 days.
Mr Steen came to America with his parents when he was just a few months old. They settled in Douglas county where he grew to manhood. He homesteaded in northern Minnesota where he lived for four years. He was married to Gina Jenson June 11, 1904 and to this union was born three sons and three daughters.
After their marriage they lived in northern Minnesota for 2 years and then came back to Douglas county and bought a farm near Farwell where he resided for 32 years until the time of his passing.
Mr Steen was of a quiet and pleasing character and had learned to know the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and for some time before his death he was longing to go home to Heaven to be forever with the Lord.
Those who are left to mourn his passing are his wife Mrs Gina Steen, who lives on the home farm near Farwell, and the three sons and three daughters, Olaf and Victor, Farwell, Arnold of Pillager, Minn, Evangeline (Mrs David Anderson) and Doris (Mrs Clarence Sperling) of Farwell and Ruth (Mrs John Strand) of Mansfield, O. Six grandchildren also survive.
One sister, Miss Gusta Steen of Minneapolis, three brothers: Bennie Steen of Brandon, George Steen of Kensington, Olaf Steen of Alexandria and Peter Steen of Canada also survive besides a host of friends who had learned to know and respect him.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 15 at 2:15 from the Engstrom Funeral Home and at 2:30 from the Gospel Tabernacle; Rev Wm A Morken officiating. At the funeral home Arnold Steen sang: “Safe in the Arms of Jesus” and Mr and Mrs David Anderson sang at the church, “Just Beyond the River Jordan.” Rev Morken sang “The Pearly Gates Shall Open” and Mrs Conrad Englund, a solo, “They Come from the East and the West. Miss Ruby Magnuson was the accompanist.
Interment took place in Trysil cemetery. Pall bearers were Joe Englund, Mano Lee, C H Frisell, Oscar Thoen, Carl Lordalen and Ralph Land.
