Gina Steen
Gina Steen was born in Trysil, Norway on March 9, 1886, the daughter of Rev. Halvor and Eli (Vestby) Jensson. The Jensson family came to the United States when Gina was a young child. They settled in Minnesota, living in Minneapolis, Belgrade and Holmes City Township.
Gina married Einar Steen on June 11, 1904 at Holmes City Township. After their marriage, Einar and Gina homesteaded and lived in Northern Minnesota for a few years and then returned to Holmes City Township where she lived until 1974 when she became a resident of the Knute Nelson Memorial Home.
Mrs. Steen died on Thursday, May 3, 1979 at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. David (Evangeliine) Anderson of Farwell, Mrs. John (Ruth) Strand of Minneapolis, Mrs. Clarence (Doris) Sperling of Farwell; one son, Arnold of Twin Falls, Idaho; one sister, Mrs. James (Petra) Drennan of Canada; two brothers, Casper Jensson of Canada and Ingvald Jensson of Baudette, Minnesota; eighteen grandchildren and forty-two great grandchildren.
Gina’s son Victor died on May 5, 1979 at Twin Falls, Idaho. His funeral services were also held on May 7, 1979 in Idaho.
Mrs. Steen is preceded in death by her husband, one son and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, May 7, 1979, 1:30 p.m., at the Assembly of God Church with Rev. Lyle Larson, Rev. Andrew Hargrave and Rev. Robert Strand officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Thoen sang a duet and were accompanied by Ruby Magnuson.
Pall bearers were Paul Anderson, Donald Steen, Vernon Anderson, Calvin Sperling, Phiilip Steen, Eugene Strand, Roger Sperling and Douglas Strand.
Interment was at Trysil Cemetery, Holmes City Township. Services directed by the Alexandria Funeral Home.
