Obituary:
Strandvold, Ragnhild – was born in Trysil, Norway, Oct. 17, 1834, and was at the time of her death, Dec. 30, 1916, 82 yrs. old, 1 mo. and 13 days. She was married in Norway to Hans Strandvold and to the union were born three children. These are Mrs. PO Myhr of Holmes City, Mrs. K. Lee of Argusville, ND and Helge Strandvold, who died in Holmes City in 1892. Her husband died at their home in Holmes City, Jan 28, 1898. Since that time Henry Myhr, a grandson has had charge of the farm and she has made her home with him. Besides her two surviving daughters there are 13 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Strandvold emigrated to America and arrived in Holmes City in August, 1868, where they homesteaded and on which farm they lived until their death. This farm is now owned by Henry Myhr.
They were active members of the Trysil congregation from the time of their arrival in Holmes City and took great interest in the ladies aid and helpless and needy. For forty years she has been lame from the effects of rheumatism and about five years ago cancer started on her chin which steadily did its damaging work to her health. About 14 months ago she became too weak from the effects of this to be up longer and she had to take to her bed and has been bedfast since. At Christmas eve she became very much worse and death came as a relief from long suffering.
Her daughter, Mrs. Knute Lee, arrived before her death so her two remaining children were present and visited here in her last moments.
The funeral was held Jan. 1, from the home of the deceased at 10 AM and from the Trysil church at 12 noon. Rev. J. Lindseth officiating. The pall bearers were PO and HO Soberg, Peter Sogarden, Isaac Isaackson, Peter Johnson and Jens Nygaard.
